Father’s Day: Devoted volunteer walks in his late dad’s footsteps

It’s “not a motivation, but a purpose,” says Luke Lynch on his service at the Boca Helping Hands charity. It’s hard to imagine any father not being incredibly touched hearing his son talk about him the way Luke Lynch talks about his dad. His admiration for his father’s drive, dedication to his family and community, and the way he expressed that dedication through volunteering, “coming in every day with a smile on his face.” And even though veteran journalist Jim Lynch isn’t here to see Luke, 19, continue his legacy five days a week at the community organization Boca Helping Hands, the George Washington University student is confident his father, who died from cancer in 2013 when Luke was 13, would be pleased.
