Genome of a Third Neanderthal Sequenced

Researchers have sequenced the genome of a Neandertal from Chagyrskaya Cave in the Altai Mountains to high quality. Credit: Dr. Bence Viola, Dept. of Anthropology, of Toronto. Until now, only the genomes of two Neanderthals have been sequenced to high quality: one from Vindjia Cave in modern-day Croatia and one from Denisova Cave in Siberia’s Altai Mountains.
